Good news to the geologists.. The Second Ice Age of earth has set in... Unless they have been to engrossed in their work to take a look into how the world has become.
It has become a central for vices of all sorts. In India, we have child and adult trafficking for prositution. In S'pore, we have cases of baby trafficking.
The world has become quite a inhumane place to stay in.
Taknig a dip into history, the world in the past was not like this. Take our parents' time, They would look out for one another, the houses were always unlocked and children, adults could enter and leave at will, and the owner could be sure that nothing will be missing. On the streets, people say hi to one another when they meet someone they know, somethings even if they don't know them, they still make the effort to say hi.
Now, everyone wears a impentrable mask to hide one's feelings. The warmth of human nature has frozen till it cannot be thawed. No one dares to leave without a mask on his/her face now. Fake smiles, fake relationships, nearly everything is fake in such a superficial world.
Attended the Chinese tutorial in IJ today.. Was pretty shocked and disappointed when some of my classmates say that Chinese is totally useless for them in the future..

Have you all people not noticed that China is now taking a major role in the world market? So major that actually Westerners, who thought China was a backward and unworthy country, are now flocking to China to learn the language?
We are Singaporeans no less, but the blood that flows in us are still of Chinese. Sure, your parents may have married from different ethincal backgrounds, but still we are still Chinese, and our mother tongue, Chinese is still much in demand.
2 years ago, in Jack Nweo's movie " I Not Stupid", one memorable scene that I remembered till this day was the teacher telling the class this. " If you do not learn Chinese, you will not know what you have lost in the process!" The mother tongue is literally the root of your hertiage, your people's past. There is nothing shameful about the Chinese history... Our forefathers invented the gunpowder, paper and the miracles of herbal medicine that most western doctors are now trying their hardest to comprehend.
New evidence have sprang up regarding the Chinese superiority. Researchers are trying to establish the fact that the Chinese might be the ones who have discovered America earlier than Christopher Colombus. This alone shows the extend of the power of the Chinese.
Ultimately, its one's attitude to learning the language that really matters. Learning a language is like no other subjects. It takes time and constant pratice to perfect the language. People in Singapore have mastered foregin languages such as German and Japanese, it would be a shame to see that they cannot even cope with their own mother tongue.

2005 has been a extremely eventful year. Nautural disathers ravage the lands, wars tear up countries and the aftermath is still felt till today. Back in the local community, atrocious crimes split the country into pieces and certain controversies bring us sharply back to reality. The ones we trust betrayed us and times, like this, we wonder if there is a new beginning in the new year.
The Earth, as we see it, is definately retaliating to the humans' attempt at trying to control all my rule this blue planet. Mother Earth sends her deputies to ravage the country that thinks she is the most superior amount all, and also, her other agents to warn the learned ones, that should we not take care of the planet, our doomsday, might very well be near. Not caused by mythical beasts or gods, but by ourselves. As the old saying goes, we control our destiny, its our will that turns this world, and should one day we become arrogant and ignorant to our surroundings, our pride will be the cause of our fall. History has proven this theory time and again, and I hope, we can learn from history, to save ourselves in time, before the damage that is done proceeds to the point of no return.
Warring on the other states have seen nothing but more damage to humanity. The country that says that she is protecting the others are nothing but tyrants. They stomp others' motherland, and accept them to bend towards their rule. Its the Westerners' old thinking again. " I am the most educated, therefore I am the best. The others are nothing but savages. I must first enforce my thinking into them so that one day when they become educated they will think back and thank me for what I have done. " Once again, I reference to history. The Britians thought that way too, but they did not succeed, did they? All their colonies are granted independence, and , a good many say that its because of the fundamentals that the Westerners laid down that allowed the country to become what it was. I'll like to ask, should the leaders of the nations be so much as sloppy and do not want to progress, wouldn't it have made any difference into which should the Western powers had been present or not?
Looking back at ourselves, a few sensational news hit us this year, mostly the 1st of its kind. I start with the cast of Hung Na, the little girl that was murdered by her most trusted one. This sets one thinking, is the society so untrustable, that everyone is living behind a mask of pretendence, that no one can face the world with their real feelings, their real thoughts, only to fear to be mocked at? Do we have to face the world behind a mask, hiding, being what people hope for us to be? A new saying, can be said to be born from this incident. We used to say that fire can be a good servant, but a dangerous master. Now, I'll like to add a new term, Trust, can also be said to be the same as fire. Good , yet dangerous. The disembodied case and the NKF scandal all show my point.
The world has changed. Gone are the days where a verbal promise is as good as a blood pact, and that people can be entrusted with the problems of their peers. Everyone now wheres a mask, a mask which they wish others to see them in. They carry them everyday, holding it with great care, wanting to be careful, as they must do so. Slip up, and the people see your trueself, and sometimes, even mock at it...
These are my reflections for the past year. I only hope that by the time I write the reflections of this year, the world, can become, a better place.
